Our Garden Grove moemoeā embraces the principles and strands of Te Whāriki, underpinned by a Montessori moemoeā, to highlight our key values and how this looks here for tamariki, whānau, and kaiako.
We aspire to create a welcoming, calm, caring, inclusive, and respectful learning environment where all tamariki are valued and kaiako instil and nurture a passion for lifelong learning.
WHANAUNGATANGA (relationships)
Whanaungatanga is at the heart of all learning, ensuring tamariki and whānau feel included, secure, happy, and comfortable, where they feel connected to this place and one another. Ākonga/learner’s whakaaro/ideas, needs, cultures, and aspirations are heard, valued and respected.
MANAAKITANGA (respect, care for each other and the environment)
Kaiako will encourage and promote a friendly and respectful way of being, and interactions and connections with others that embody manaaki/care and kindness.
We acknowledge Māori as tangata whenua of Aōtearoa and ensure that all ākonga are given opportunities to appreciate, respect and develop knowledge of the dual heritages of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
AKO (learning, engagement)
Our prepared and intentional environment provides challenge and opportunities to explore, problem-solve, create, and collaborate with others supporting the development of a wide range of skills.
WHAKAMANA (empowerment, independence)
We recognise and value the whakapapa of all ākonga and support all tamariki to build their mana and become increasingly capable, confident, resilient, and independent.
